Hi!
So as you all probably know, I will soon be moving to Colombia, where I will stay until late June. Kelly and I will spend about the first ten days together in and around Bogotá. We're excited to eat the food, witness the natural beauty, meet new people, and eat the food.
But seriously, we are excited. We will share some pictures when we can, and I will continue writing about my experiences.
We leave tomorrow!
Before we do, I wanted to share a little bit of our blizzard experience in West Philly. After the blizzard, streets normally filled with angry drivers became walking lanes for locals eager to help others get unstuck from the snow. It was encouraging to see so many people in the city going out of their way to help others. Philadelphia truly lived up to its name as the city of brotherly love.
On top of that, the snow turned West Philly into a winter wonderland. This neighborhood was already gorgeous without the snow, but the snow definitely added an element of beauty.
Here are some before and (kind of) after-blizzard pictures of my neighborhood.
Snow Buddha? See it?
This is from inside my apartment.

Kelly and I took a walk during the afternoon of the blizzard. That's when I got many of the "after" pictures.
It was also beautiful at night. Kelly and I took a stroll down Baltimore Ave to Clark Park, where many families and friends have been sledding and playing all day.
This person decided that it is better to bike.
It appeared to be working!
(Note to self: ride bike in snow whenever possible)
We made it home!
I will miss Philadelphia, but I have a lot to look forward to.
Stay tuned for Colombia-related posts!

This was a great first post! I saw the Buddah and you and Kelly are fun to watch play! Love you - Mom
ReplyDeleteThanks mom!
DeleteI love the before and after photos! The biker is a lunatic. How did this storm measure up to the blizzards of our youth?
ReplyDeleteThis makes me nostalgic for Philly. Clark Park?! I miss it. Did the trolleys run in the snow or were they stuck in the depot?
I can't wait to see more posts from Colombia!
Thanks! I'd say this blizzard was pretty big, but that one in the mid-90s was definitely bigger. The trolleys weren't running Saturday (the day it hit the most) and I think Sunday too.
